It Was a Grey Day

After a beautiful weekend, we had a rainy start to the week.  I caught this photo of Charles and my own grey cat, Beeker, peering out the back door.

Catnip at Its Source

Charles loves catnip and found the newly emerging catnip plant in my herb garden.  This video shows him slightly under the influence!

The Great Outdoors

Charles has been helping me prepare my garden.  He is such a social cat and follows me everywhere.  I call his name, and he starts "chirping" in response and runs right over!

Venturing Out

Charles enjoyed some fresh air and exercise today.  He was a bit confused about the harness and leash, but eventually came to terms, realizing he was still able to walk after all!  He kept quite busy the entire time and followed me up and down the hill as I worked in the yard.

Goof

Charles was particularly happy today since it was Saturday and I was home to give him extra cuddle time!  He struck a particularly goofy pose this morning!

Manicure

Charles is showing off his lovely nails!  His nails were trimmed and clear Soft Claws nail caps were placed on top so.  Holding still is not his forte but with a lot of bribery with food, he did better than I expected!

Healing

When Charles found me, he was full of scabs and scars from fights outside.  It took about three weeks for his scabs to heal and fall off, and today I finally started to see new hair growing in an area on his leg that had a larger scab.  With a healthier diet, his coat is also starting to feel softer and healthier!  I didn't think this guy could get more handsome, but he can!!

Yumm...

Catnip is delicious!!  I hope my forever family shares some with me, too!!

Hanging with the Stuffies

Charles found a few stuffies to hang with. He's waiting for his forever human to hang with every day!

Enjoying the Indoor Life!

Charles loves the comforts of home!  Check out this short video - http://goo.gl/6wsReg

Meet Charles

This absolutely HANDSOME MAN needs a home! He came to me as a stray and we discovered he is FIV (feline aids) positive. He is approximately 4 years old and a mature adult male cat, weighing 12.5lb! Unfortunately I cannot add him to my overflowing house of kitties, so I am looking for a new forever home for him. Due to his FIV status, I am searching for an indoor only home with other FIV+ cats, or where he will be the only cat. Charles was recently neutered, so he is ready for his forever home!

Since he has been in my care, this is what I've learned...
First of all, he is such a love! He loves head rubs, chin rubs and being brushed. He is also quite a talker and will "chirp" at you as you talk to him. He absolutely loves companionship and really just wants to be with you, even more than a big fancy bedroom with comfy beds. He is fine being picked up but isn't a lap cat. He is fine with my dog and will be affectionate if the dog is quiet but will be bossy if the dog is out of control or in his space.

He is now neutered. He has been using the litter box faithfully even now that he is no longer confined to a crate and has a larger carpeted room. He loves to eat and is especially pleased when he gets extra treats. Catnip is also wonderful!

He did test positive for FIV, but that doesn't mean he is a sick cat, or that he ever will be as a result of FIV. These cats may never have any symptom relating to FIV their entire life. Right now, he's a happy and health boy who will need regular vet exams, vaccines and dental care just like any other cat!

Most importantly he is still in need of a home. I just cannot keep this guy forever or even for that much longer, and I am desperate to find him his own home. I'm also wondering if anyone would like to foster him on a longer-term basis if needed, with a bit more room in their house. (Maybe someone has a part of their house that could work well for him to share that space?).

This guy is just the sweetest and really deserves a home. Please spread the word! And thank you to those that have already shared or considered adopting him. I really appreciate it!
